University president encourages civil discourse

Dear Members of the A&M-San Antonio Community:

Reflecting on the momentous political and activist events that occurred last week, it is important to remember that our University values diversity of thought and cultivates an environment that ensures that all groups or persons are welcomed, valued and free from reprisal. Let us embrace the freedom to express differing opinions or beliefs, and welcome opportunities to listen, share and learn from each other.

I ask that we continue to engage in constructive civil discourse in support of a safe learning community and working environment. Respect and civility are fundamental expectations for everyone at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.

I am confident that we will uphold the highest standards of integrity by continuing to demonstrate our campus as an inclusive academic community for all.

Warm Regards,

Dr. Cynthia Teniente-Matson
