Joyce Raposo is a senior Communications major at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Editor in Chief for the Mesquite Student Media. In 1992, she received her Associates degree in Liberal Arts from
St. Philip’s College but took a hiatus from school to build a career in the medical industry. Joyce has years of experience working in Public Relations and Marketing, but looks forward to finally completing her bachelor’s degree in December 2018. In her spare time, Joyce enjoys Austin’s live music scene and keeping up with the latest alternative music and artists. She also loves to travel, dining out at trendy new restaurants and cooking for friends and family. After graduation, Joyce plans to use her love of music, public relations background and her journalism education to launch a new career in the music industry, which is her one true passion.
Timothy Shieff is a senior Communications major, studying Journalism with a minor in Business Administration at Texas A&M-San Antonio. He is a volunteer contributor for the Mesquite, covering campus sports and activities. Timothy transferred this fall from Texas Tech University. His interests are writing, sports and the outdoors. He plans to be a broadcaster for the National Football League. During his free time, Timothy likes to watch sitcoms and play with his dogs.
Armando Villarreal III is a senior communication major at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Armando works for a local wholesale produce and restaurant equipment company. He received his associate degrees in culinary arts from St. Philip’s College in 2015 and in history from San Antonio College in 2018. He loves to travel, try new foods and dining out at unique restaurants. Armando plans to work in media relations.
Deidre Carrillo is a senior communications major at Texas A&M University- San Antonio. Deidre is the Photo Editor for The Mesquite and is the President of the Society of Professional Journalists, TAMUSA Chapter. She was drawn to Public Relations in high school when she was assigned as Student Public Relations Officer for an engineering team that built electrathon vehicles. She plans to find a career as a social media specialist for a local business or company after graduation. When Deidre isn’t taking pictures she likes to visit new places, try new foods and watch Ghost Adventures.
Samantha Esparza is a junior Communications major at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. She is a proud mother of two fur babies, Remi and Kratos. She is a part-time employee at Giant Noise, a public relations and social media firm in San Antonio. There she works with clients such as the Pearl Brewery and Whispering Angel Rosé. Samantha plans on pursuing a career in public relations after she obtains her Bachelor's degree. In her spare time, she enjoys binge watching top ten countdowns of just about anything on YouTube.
