Ruben Betancourt is a senior Communication major and a Spanish minor at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Ruben is the Editor-in-Chief for The Mesquite and works part-time at the Alamo Colleges District Business Office, as an Accounts Receivable Assistant. He is a Greehey Scholar and a San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists scholarship recipient. He is also a member of the National Leadership and Success Society. He enjoys the performing arts and he enjoys learning new languages. He plans to work in the public relations field locally and in the future, he plans to live abroad and work in international PR.
Miguel Garcia is a senior communications major working as independent producer on both feature projects and corporate partnerships. He works as a creative consultant specializing in video production and creative editorial. His background includes major feature work, art direction, film production work in Los Angeles and small independent film.
Deidre Carrillo is a communications major at Texas A&M University- San Antonio. Deidre is the Photo Editor for The Mesquite and is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, TAMUSA Chapter.
She was drawn to Public Relations in high school when she was assigned as Student Public Relations Officer for an engineering team that built electrathon vehicles. She plans to find a career as a social media specialist for a local business or company after graduation. When Deidre isn’t taking pictures she likes to visit new places, try new foods and watch Ghost Adventures.
Joyce Raposo is a senior Communications major at Texas A&M University-San Antonio and Assistant Editor for the Mesquite Student Media. In 1992, she received her Associates degree in Liberal Arts from
St. Philip’s College but took a hiatus from school to build a career in the medical industry. Joyce has years of experience working in Public Relations and Marketing, but looks forward to finally completing her bachelor’s degree in December 2018. In her spare time, Joyce enjoys Austin’s live music scene and keeping up with the latest alternative music and artists. She also loves to travel, dining out at trendy new restaurants and cooking for friends and family. After graduation, Joyce plans to use her love of music, public relations background and her journalism education to launch a new career in the music industry, which is her one true passion.
Mariah Gonzalez is a junior communication major at Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Mariah works in the department of Recreational Sports on campus as a Marketing and Design Assistant. Mariah plans to work in Public Relations and plans to further her education at an art institute. When she’s not at school she enjoys illustrating and volunteering as a photographer.
