Take the stage at Karaoke Tuesday

By Brian Harrin

Ready. Set. Sing!

It’s that time of the month again when Campus Activities Board will host its Karaoke Tuesday event 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Feb. 23 in the cafeteria on Main Campus. With a song list varying from country to rap, there is something for everyone to sing their hearts out to.

Kim Vasquez, Campus Activities Board president, said her role includes “creating programs that appeal to the student body” and “providing an array of diverse activities throughout the year.”

Vasquez said students have different tastes, and select songs from all genres. The most memorable performance, she said, was when a guy sang “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley.

The turnout for Karaoke Tuesday amounts to an overall turnout of 20 to 30 people, 10 to 15 of whom sing. Vazquez remarked on hesitations students may have about singing in public saying, “This is a no judgement zone. Come on out and just have fun.”

If the singing is not enticing enough, Campus Activities Board members will give out door prizes ranging from cell phone accessories to stress balls. As for Vazquez’s favorite song to jam out to, it is hands down “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé.

So take a break from studying and come on down to Karaoke Tuesday to sing your heart out and who knows, you may just build your own fan base.

You can follow Campus Activites Board on Facebook, or visit members in Central Academic Building (CAB), Room 103.
