The Mesquite Online News - Texas A&M University-San Antonio

Welcome Letter from the Editor

by Amanda Lozano

To our readers (old and new):

Welcome to a brand new semester! This Monday, 513 first-year students began their classes at Texas A&M-San Antonio. Since 2015, A&M-San Antonio has prepared for this momentous occasion by officially becoming a comprehensive four-year university. The university announced a 10 percent growth and continues preparing to become the second largest university in the Texas A&M University system.

With new staff, students and faculty, there’s no better time to be on campus or the Southside of San Antonio. Changes and growth are imminent in the community, including here at Jaguar Student Media.

We are back in the game and better than ever. Since last spring, the Mesquite team worked tirelessly discussing ideas and creating plans to improve services for new and returning students and our community.

Expect a completely revamped, mobile-friendly Mesquite website in September with more in-depth and editorial content, fresh perspectives, and friendlier user interfaces and interaction. In an effort to to increase our community engagement, some of our content will be featured in The Southside Reporter.

Jaguar Student Media staff offers a thank you to the College of Arts and Sciences and Student Affairs for their continued support and generosity. Thanks to the university’s continued funding and encouragement, students have an outlet to express their views and an opportunity to cover campus and community issues.

As always, we welcome all campus staff, students and community into our newsroom. Give us a visit on the third floor of the Central Academic Building, room 320. We look forward to hearing from you.

Here’s to a great semester! Cheers!
