Texas A&M-San Antonio’s Master of Business Administration Association held their first fundraising event during the Fiesta Charreada April 22, where members set up a booth at the Rancho del Charro and sold ice cream to promote the University and association.

The same day, other association members participated in A&M-San Antonio’s first Fiesta de Cascarones event on Main Campus Building.

The association seeks to provide its members with resources to enhance their academic and professional skills, including job opportunities.

MBAA serves three tiers, including National Business Awareness, MBA Student and Alumni Engagement, and Philanthropy and Community Involvement.

Founded in February 2012, the association currently has 25 members and is eager to get more students involved, said Carlos Jarquin, graduate student and MBAA president.

Jarquin, who is employed with the Free Trade Alliance said he invites clients to talk about their businesses with members.

The group will continue to participate in fundraising events in order to raise money for scholarships and other resources for students in the MBA program.

“We want to give back to the students and our community,” Jarquin said.

The group holds general monthly meetings on the second Saturday of each month at various locations and membership is open to all MBA students and alumni. For undergraduate students who are interested in joining the MBA Association, there are other membership options. For more information, email the MBA Association at MBAA.tamusa@gmail.com.
